New technologies spring up all the time, some good some bad, but how do some of the bad ones become the standard that we accept? As you read the article, you will see numerous gadgets, software, and hardware that are used on a daily basis. Of the ten overrated technologies I agree with eight and one of the two is only a technical disagreement because I haven't used one of the items in the comparison. Many things come down to good advertisement or a solid footing already established in the industry...Apple is a great example of this. Other times a company comes up with something new and exciting that consumers just get hooked on for a time...Nintendo Wii. Facebook continues to live on because hey, everyone is doing it so you better get on the band wagon and lets face it, none of your friends have even heard of Multiply. The fact the Google Docs has been perpetrated as a good replacement for Microsoft Office is incredible to me. It has half the capabilities, if that, and has to be used online. Open Office is the only true alternative, and a good one at that; Microsoft still owns the world however. Easier said than done, but when it comes to technology, don't always believe the hype. You may be missing the next great thing that just can't fight through the norm.
